Singer and actor Marc Abaya has a vast collection of anything and everything Star wars in his apartment.

Some items included in his collection are light sabers, figurines, magazines, comic books, toys, graphic novels, and video games.

Why a Star Wars collection? “Star Wars reminds me of my childhood, and I’ve always had a love for toys,” he says.

“Kung ang iba nababaliw sa kotse or baril, ako naman sa Star Wars,” he shares.

Marc started his collection in 1999, when Darth Maul appeared in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. “They started releasing all these Darth Maul stuff and I started buying them,” Marc says.

The rock star admits that he wanted to be Darth Maul the first time he saw him. “I had never seen anyone so cool!”

Marc gets his toys from a store in Greenhills called Best Toys.

He also buys some of his toys in back alleys in Shoppesville, also in Greenhills.

Marc attends toy conventions, too, and gets some of his toys there.

According to Marc, at toy conventions like the ones in SM Megamall, the toys are usually inside a box, but as soon as they are taken out, “unahan na ‘yan!”

Marc shares that Paolo Valenciano is also into Star Wars and that they call and tease each other about their recent purchases.

“I am a Sith fan,” Marc states.

Marc says that he loves Darth Maul because he is so “bad ass, he has tattoos all over, and he’s a good fighter.”

Marc says that the rarer the item, the more expensive it gets.

Marc is not a fan of the character Jar Jar Binks. “He was annoying!” he says.

He shares that he didn’t like Hayden Christensen’s portrayal of Anakin Skywalker.

“He was very, in my opinion, two-dimensional,” says Marc of Hayden.

“I would have cast James Franco [as Anakin],” he says.

Marc buys the official Star wars: Insider magazine every month.

Marc doesn’t think of himself as a Star Wars expert. In fact, he admits that he couldn’t even do well in the Trivial Pursuit DVD: Star Wars Saga edition.

Marc says that among all his toy figures, his favorites are those of Anakin Skywalker fighting with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
