GALLERY - OTHERS Regal Films’ Halloween offering: Aswang (by Mark Sablan)

1

Aswang is Lovi Poe’s launching movie under Regal Films.

2

She plays an aswang who falls in love with a mortal (Paulo Avelino), against the wishes of the aswang tribe.

3

In the movie, Lovi is the most beautiful aswang who vows to save Paulo from her fellow aswangs.

4

Lovi had conflicting opinions about the addition of a steamy sex scene for the movie, but they are in good terms now, Lovi agreeing to do the scenes.

5

“Let’s just say that it ended up as the most intense love scene I’ve ever done,” Lovi says about that particular sex scene.

6

Paulo Avelino’s career is looking good ever since he moved to ABS-CBN 2. He’s got project after project, the latest one being the movie Aswang.

7

In the movie, Paulo plays an assassin who finds himself in a barrio full of aswangs.

8

Joem Bascon is the leader of the aswang tribe in the movie. His role is so dark that according to him, it even scared himself.

9

“I was a bit afraid at the start because the role might terrify the fans away,” Joem says. “But I was so drawn to the role because it’s such a challenge to play.”

10

“Flesh, blood, entrails and organs. Name it, I’ve eaten it!” says Joem when asked if he got to eat flesh in the movie.

In the movie, Joem’s wife is Precious Lara Quigaman, who is the sister of Lovi’s character.

13

Paulo thinks that the genre of the film is romantic horror.

14

“It’s similar in tone to True Blood and Twilight,” says Paulo.

15

The sentiments are very Filipino, according to Paulo.

16

Explains Paulo: “The story comes from Filipino folklore and explains who the aswang is, how and why he feeds, and what his powers are.”

17

Aswang hits theaters this November 2.

Aswang stars Joem Bascon, Nina Jose, Lovi Poe, Albie Casino, Paulo Avelino, and Jillian Ward.
