Out of the 2,500 original compositions that were submitted by Pinoy songwriters worldwide, ABS-CBN and Star Records has selected 12 songs to be a part of this year’s Himig Handog competition. Now on its 5th year, Himig Handog chose the theme “Pinoy Pop (P-POP) Love Songs: Mga Awit at Kwento ng Pusong Pilipino”.

The songs’ music videos were created by the country’s prestigious universities, namely: University of The Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, Polytechnic University of The Philippines, San Beda College, Far Eastern University, University Of The East – Caloocan, MINT College, Philippine Christian University, Adamson University, and Technological Institute of The Philippines.

The grand finals of Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs will be on February 24, Sunday at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City. It will also be aired live on ABS-CBN. Aside from having a grand winner, special awards will be given such as Star Records Buyer’s Choice, Tambayan’s Choice and MOR’s Choice, TFC Choice and MYX Choice for Best Video.
