I will miss One True Love

I can feel it. GMA 7’s One True Love is about to end. I love the show so much, and I think I will shed a tear when it finally ends because it has been a nightly habit for me and my beloved yaya.

Despite the very simple plot and expected “twists and turns”, I am a fan of the show because of one thing: casting is perfect. They really got everyone right, from the main stars to even just the supporting cast.

There is no denying how the love team of Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes works. But even when they’re not together onscreen, they separately get to showcase their impressive acting skills. Alden is so believable as Tisoy, a poor and insecure dyslexic in love with someone who is rich. On the other hand, Louise is brilliant as Elize, the adopted girl who defies her parents and fights for her boyfriend.

However, my favorite performers would have to be Raymond Bagatsing and Agot Isidro, who play Carlos and Leila Samonte, the parents of Elize. Raymond is perfect as the overprotective father who passionately hates Tisoy, while Agot is such a revelation as The One Who Hates Everyone.

Last week, Leila finally told Carlos that Tisoy is his real son with Ellen (played by Jean Garcia—another great performer), and the scene was just so intense that everyone at home froze. There was screaming, some violence, plus semi-bad words. In short, it was perfect! It was great television. Good job, Raymond and Agot! GMA 7 is truly lucky to have the two of you, especially Agot, whose first project with GMA 7 is this soap.

Like I said earlier, everyone delivers great performances in One True Love. Apart from the four, other commendable actors are Caridad Sanchez (who plays Tisoy’s grandmother), Bembol Roco (the hubby of Ellen), and Tia Pusit (the yaya of Leila).

Can’t wait to go home tonight and watch One True Love.
