It was a day full of fun, frolic and friendly competition for ABS-CBN’s talents, handlers, and production staff at the 2011 Star Magic Games held at the Colegio De San Agustin gymnasium last July 31. Some of the featured games were basketball, volleyball, badminton, dodge ball, and tug-of-war. The highlight of the day was an all-star basketball competition between the ASAP Rocks team headed by John Pratts and Gabriel Valenciano and the Star Magic team led by Gerald Anderson and Rayver Cruz. ASAP Rocks emerged as the grand champion by only one point! Winners got to take home medals and gift packs from the event’s sponsors. The Star Magic Talents, numbering more than 200, were divided into 4 teams, namely blue, green, yellow and red teams. According to the overall tally, the blue team bagged the 3^rd place, the green team won 2^nd place, the 1^st place was cupped by the yellow team. LLOYDIE WELCOMES YOU

John Lloyd Cruz dished out the welcome remarks. Ever the jokester, Lloydie tagged that the event as a good opportunity for the Star Magic handlers to get back at their talents and vice-versa. John Lloyd left the event after the opening ceremonies, then came back to watch the basketball exhibition game between Star Magic and ASAP Rocks teams.

MARA TEAMS UP WITH CLARA

This time around they are on the same team! Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo of Mara Clara fame sans their iyakan and sampalan routine, went all-out in a heart-thumping game of tug of war. Kathryn and Julia were on double duty that day, serving as muses of the red team.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

BASKETBALL HUNK

Kapamilya hunk Gerald Anderson in action. The top scorer of the Star Magic team garnered an impressive 31 points. Did you know he was a former varsity player in his hometown General Santos? That pretty much explains his awesome skills on the basketball court!

STARTING IT WITH ENCHONG

Enchong Dee led the morning invocation. He played dodge ball under the blue team-adult division. Some members of the media joked that if there was a swimming category, Enchong would have easily bagged the grand prize since he is a champion swimmer and member of the Philippine National Team.

RAYVER VS DEREK

Rayver Cruz from the Star Magic team and Derek Ramsay from the ASAP Rocks team battled it out for the ball.

BLEACHER BOY

Supporters from the ASAP Rocks and Star Magic teams enjoy being the cheer groups warming the bleachers. Here is the ASAP Rocks group egging their teammates on. Among them is singer Richard Poon who insisted on not joining any games that day, preferring to show his participation from the sidelines.

PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT

Gerald Anderson, Rayver Cruz, Derek Ramsay, Ram Sagad, and Eric Tai were some of the most active players during the game. Even if they eventually lost, the Star Magic team put up a good fight, considering the fact that two professional athletes were on the competing team. Eric Tai is part of the Philippine Rugby Team The Volcanoes and Derek Ramsey is a professional Frisbee player.

ANGELICA TO THE RESCUE

Derek Ramsay grimaced in pain when he fell head first on the floor after missing a shot. Girlfriend Angelica Panganiban approached, great concern shown on her face. Derek luckily did not sustain any major injuries and continued playing until the end of the game.

KIM, THE TROOPER

Drained, Kim Chiu asked someone help her put socks on, having just come from the set of a Binondo Girl taping. After a couple of minutes of rest, the actress psyched herself up and played several rounds of badminton. Talk about a trooper!
